Peppermint was already used in the 14th century to whiten teeth – and later to hide the smell of tobacco. It stimulates blood circulation and is therefore cleansing. In ancient Greece and Rome, mint was widely used in everyday life as an aroma in the bath water and in the beds in powder form.

Eucalyptus was introduced into medicine by the Australian Aborigines, who used it for infections and fevers. It is particularly effective in treating burns, impurities and insect bites. It stimulates the blood circulation and cleanses the lymph glands - wonderfully antiseptic.

The camphor tree is native to Taiwan, China and Japan and can be up to 1000 years old. To produce oil, the tree must be at least 80 years old. Camphor was used in Persia against the plague, and was also used for embalming. In the ancient Chinese medicine culture, it is a highly valued oil that cleanses and tightens the skin.

Cinnamon is very fat-dissolving, and has been used for the last 4000 years. It is also highly antiseptic and has antimicrobial properties. Cinnamon is excellent for skin conditions such as cellulite and acne.

Cloves were formerly widely used by the Greeks, Romans and Chinese alike for its medicinal value. The Chinese used it for toothaches and as a mouthwash, especially by courtiers when they had to address the emperor. It is cell-regenerating and stimulating - and therefore advantageous for keeping the skin young.

Olive oil is a valuable source of vitamins such as A, D, E and K. It promotes the growth of new skin cells and promotes the body's resistance to infections. In addition, olive oil provides better absorption of vitamins from other ingredients, and has a very high content of antioxidants.

Vitamin E is a strong antioxidant which helps the skin to maintain a youthful appearance, as it reduces the aging process of the cells due to oxygenation.
